The Best Onshore Adventures on the Emerald Coast
Biking
If you like your outdoor adventures on two wheels, then biking along the Gulf Coast is a must! Our area features miles and miles of bike trails for locals and visitors to enjoy. The Timpoochee Trail is one of the most popular trails in the area for biking, walking, and jogging. The well-maintained path traverses 18.5 miles along Highway 30A, from Dune Allen to Inlet Beach.
Our guests staying at San Remo and Adagio will find the Timpoochee Trail right outside their door, near mile markers 4 and 5. Directly across from our vacation rentals at Villa Coyaba is the Scenic Highway 98 Trail. This is one of the best-loved bike trails in Destin, FL. Both trails allow our guests to pedal their way to lunch, shops, and other attractions.
If you didn’t bring your bike with you, that’s no problem. There are several local bike rental shops for you to choose from. There is even an on-site bike and equipment rental company at Adagio.

Hiking
Lace up your hiking shoes for an epic time on the trails at some of our favorite state parks. If you want to get away from the sidewalk and into the woods, surrounded by maritime and forest views, then choose a hiking trail at one of these parks:

Paddleboarding
For those with good balance and a sense of adventure, paddleboarding may be an ideal pastime. Standup paddleboarding, often referred to as SUP, offers an opportunity to quietly paddle in dune lakes, along the coastline, or through inland marshes. There are plenty of options for paddleboard rentals in Destin, FL, and 30A.
Kayaking
Single or tandem … ocean or sit inside? Those wishing to head out on a kayaking adventure have many choices. No matter which you choose, you are guaranteed to have an amazing time. Whether you are paddling through estuaries or gliding through the emerald waters beyond the surf, this is a fantastic way to get some exercise, experience nature firsthand, and soak in the sunshine. Bring your own kayak or take advantage of one of the kayak rental companies in the area.
Several of the state parks listed above also offer kayaking opportunities. Don’t miss your chance to kayak the rare coastal dune lakes of 30A!
Beaches
If you are looking for the perfect beach to set up your chair and umbrella for the day, you won’t have to look far. Our guests at San Remo, Adagio, and Villa Coyaba can enjoy private beach access to some of the most pristine stretches of beach on the Emerald Coast. In addition to the secure beach paths at these condo communities, there are fantastic public beach access points dotted along the coast from Destin through 30A. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Blue Mountain Beach
- Grayton Beach
- Henderson Beach State Park
- Jame Lee Park
Snorkeling
Spend your day on an underwater adventure with a mask, snorkel, and fins (optional). This is an inexpensive way to explore what is beneath the surface. For around $35, you can purchase everything you need for a snorkeling excursion. There are cheaper options available, as well as sets for children. Two snorkeling locations in Destin we recommend are Norriego Point Park & Beach Access and the East Jetty via O’Steen Public Beach Access.
If you would like a guided tour, there are numerous local charter businesses that offer snorkeling trips. This is one of the outdoor activities in Destin, FL, you don’t want to miss.
Diving
Divers flock to the Emerald Coast for the fantastic diving opportunities. With abundant nearshore artificial reefs, there are a plethora of diving opportunities along our coast. There is even an Underwater Museum of Art just less than a mile off the coast from Grayton Beach State Park. Check out one of our local dive shops, like Dive30A, for dive trips and gear.
Fishing
Did you know that Destin is considered the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village“? It is home to the largest in-state fishing fleet and offers fishermen access to the 100-fathom curve just offshore. Our area offers year-round deep-sea and inshore fishing for snapper, grouper, billfish, and more. It is also host to the month-long Destin Fishing Rodeo each October.
Fishing is one of the top outdoor activities in Destin, FL—and you don’t want to miss out on the fun. Select a half or full-day trip with one of the local fishing charters or design your own fun with our fishing itinerary.
Boating
Boat. Boats. And more boats! They are everywhere you look in Destin. If you love being on the water, then getting into a boat during your stay is not an option. Whether you choose to rent a boat or book a boat tour, there are plenty of options.
