Destin, Florida Winter Weather
As winter brings shivering temperatures and often relentless weather across much of the United States, our little slice of paradise rarely dips below freezing. Our mild weather from December through March offers a warm oasis for those seeking a respite from the cold. Visitors can expect mostly sunny days, perfect for light layers such as jeans, sweaters, t-shirts, and a jacket. Here are the average daily temperatures during winter along the Emerald Coast:
December: Highs of 61°F–67°F, Lows of 45°F–50°F
January: Highs of 61°F–63°F, Lows of 42°F–48°F
February: Highs of 61°F–66°F, Lows of 44°F–50°F

Water temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico average from 59°F to 64°F. While this is too chilly for most people, many water sports are still enjoyable this time of year. Kayaking and fishing are popular year-round!
While rare, our thermometers occasionally record temperatures below freezing, usually associated with a cold front. But don’t worry, those digits don’t stick around long.
