Why “Fall” for 30A?

Today is the first day of fall and we’re looking forward to cooler nights and more outdoor family friendly events in our 30A and Destin area.

October and November are my favorite months to make memories at the beach. It’s still warm enough to go to the beach during the day and the cooler weather at night makes for perfect for beach walks. There are a handful of great festivals going on in October. I can’t wait to attend them. If you are in town during one of the festivals check them out.

Destin Seafood Festival:

Locals like to boast that Destin is “the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” The access to deep water (and the fish that run there) most accounts for Destin’s popularity with anglers. It takes at least twice as long to reach these depths in most other Gulf waters.
Join the locals October 6th – 8th at the 39th Annual Destin Seafood Festival. This is a FREE event. Held at the Destin Harbor, the kids will enjoy the kid zone with its rock climbing walls and zip lines while the adults will love tasting seafood from all the local restaurants and vendors. Where to stay? One of our three condos at Villa Coyaba would give you the beach by day and the festival nearby by night.

The Market Shops Bloody Mary Festival:

We all need to eat more vegetables and Bloody Mary’s count as a vegetable, right? The Market Shops will host the 3rd Annual Bloody Mary Festival benefiting Habitat for Humanity Walton County on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s festival welcomes many favorite restaurants, bars and culinary artists from around South Walton and Destin. Ticket prices start at just $40 dollars. This is a great festival to visit before checking in at one of Your Friend at the Beach’s 5-star condos in nearby San Remo and Adagio.

Baytowne Beer Festival:

Time to roll out the barrel and discover unique suds and ales! The Village of Baytowne Wharf presents the 10th annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Fest on October 13 and 14, 2017. Plan to sample and savor specialty beers from around the nation.

Pumpkin Festival at Arnett’s Gulfside Stables:

Come out to Arnett’s Pumpkin Festival and pick out your pumpkins. Have a great time with pumpkin painting activities, bouncy house and pony rides. Take a hay ride through the haunted trails of Point Washington State Forest. And get some yummy cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs and drinks! FREE admission. Tickets for individual activities $5. Wear your Halloween costume if you dare. The Pumpkin Festival takes place over two weekends: Sat/Sun on October 21-22 and October 28-29 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.

Make sure you download our free APP, YFAB, to learn more about these events and other events in the area. With all these fun festivals, I think you’ll “Fall” for a vacation at 30A and Destin, too.
