How to Make the Most of the Spring and Summer Concert Series in Destin
During the spring and summer seasons, the Destin and 30a areas have a free concert almost every night. We’ve listed our favorites below.
Baytowne Wharf
What’s not to love about Baytowne Wharf? They have tasty restaurants, the adventure zone for kids, and one of our favorites, Blast Arcade. The Wednesday concert series goes on for the entire month of March. Shows are free and run from 7 p.m. until 9.m. Just across the arcade, the village hosts Baytowne LIVE. Through the spring and summer mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a local musician will fill the area with music from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
We recommend making a whole night of it and going early for dinner. You can park just inside the main gate and take the water ferry across to Baytowne Wharf. It’s sure to be a treat for the kids and adults alike as you glimpse the setting sun over the bay. Village Door Dockside Restaurant is one of our favorites for dinner because of the great seafood and BBQ, beautiful views, and fun atmosphere. They are also known for their live music! After dinner, treat the kids to some candy at Candymaker. The concerts take place at the Events Plaza Stage near the main entrance. Be sure to bring a blanket to lay down and enjoy the music.
30Avenue
30Avenue is another great spot for dinner and shopping. They host live music through the spring and much of the summer. Local musicians take the stage on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through the months of March and April. The performances run from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the evening. If you plan on having dinner there, we recommend amici 30A Italian Kitchen for some delicious food. The concert series typically isn’t very busy and features large tables with chairs, corn hole, and hula hoops for the kids. Bring a bottle of wine, listen to music, and watch the kids dance the night away. At the end of the night, you can splurge on some ice cream at Marble Slab.
Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation
The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation hosts 15 concerts throughout the spring, summer, and fall at its Dugas Pavilion. Past performers include Alter Eagles, Sister Hazel, tribute shows, and more! The spring and summer concert series coincide and take place from April through June. Shows are on Thursdays and start at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Ticket prices vary by event but is always affordable and children under 12 are free. Bring your own chairs!
